The Oscars Are Dead...

I am really not into getting lectured by privileged, spoiled, over-paid, and over rated Asshats. So I am going to pass.

I would not mind watching the Odd Couple movie (even the tv show) or some other movie or tv show tonight.

The Odd Couple by the way got nominated in 1969 for best adapted material and best editing but did not win an Oscar.  Bullitt won for editing (fair enough) but the Lion in Winter won for adapted screenplay? Blah.

I have watched many of the nominated movies this year. They are mostly ok (not exceptionally great). I did reviews: La La Land, Arrival, Fences, Hell and High Water, Lion, Hacksaw Ridge, Manchester by the Sea.

My favorites were Hacksaw Ridge and Hell and High Water. My prediction is those films will hold up over time. And it is an outrage probably neither one will win tonight. Hell, Silence did not even get nominated.

I have not seen Moonlight, but I am sure Trooper York will give us a review.  I do want to see Hidden Figures.

  1. Forget where I saw it, but Camille Paglia really ripped the Academy in her latest piece.

PS "Lion in Winter" was a very good picture, though certainly not for everybody, so I know what you mean.

    1. You're right Lion In Winter was a good film. But I would have liked to see The Odd Couple win at least one.

    2. Also, the TV version of "The Odd Couple" was consistently good. Saw the movie and didn't care for it.

  2. The Best Picture mix-up looked staged.

  3. I think it was done to bait Trump into tweeting: "see, fake news."

    Fail! Sad!

    1. Add Hell and High Water to your list. All of those are very good movies.
