Who is Romney going to pick as his proposed vice president?

In regards to who will be Mitt Romney's vice president pick, Jim "Tattoo" Geraghty says keep an eye on Romney's campaign plane...

Pete "DaTechGuy" Ingemi predicts Tim Pawlenty.  If Pete is right, I predict that Robert Stacy McCain throws up (I may join him)!

Update:  This pick would be far better than T-Paw...  Allen West has essentially recommended Romney do something like this.  We will see.  

Why Paul Ryan makes sense as a vice president choice...Mitt could lose with T-Paw

Ryan can totally hold his own against the left.  He is from Wisconsin.  And he is not Tim Pawlenty or Rob Portman (and when you have RSM pull off the highway for anything other than a personal pit stop in order to do an emergency blog post, you know it is serious).  Governor Jindal recommends Paul Ryan.  Breitbart has a post on it too.

Glenn Beck is even blunter:  Romney will lose if Pawlenty is the vice president pick.

Update:  I am also not buying Marco Rubio is not acceptable.  He is.  Way beyond Tim Pawlenty and Rob Portman.  Birthers are wrong, there are not that many of them, and frankly the election will not turn on them anyway.  

Is Rob Portman going to be Mitt Romney's vice president choice?

I would prefer Paul Ryan...but maybe.

This may be the deciding factor:  Ohio is probably (for all practical purposes) a must win for Republicans.  Wisconsin is not.   While I think this projection is overly optimistic for Barack Obama and too harsh on Mitt Romney, it has Obama winning on electoral votes (and Romney losing Ohio and Virginia).  Of course, I doubt a Portman pick guarantees an Ohio win any more than a Ryan pick would guarantee a Wisconsin win.

What Paul Ryan has going for him is it would be a clear signal to conservatives that Romney is serious about spending reform.  And that would encourage conservatives and Tea Party voters around the country.  Paul Ryan can also defend his position when the predictable attacks come from the left.

Rob Portman has been an establishment Republican when it comes to fiscal restraint.  And that establishment GOP nonsense is not going to cut it with conservatives.
