Michigan seems like a dream to me now...well more of a nightmare for some!

Never saw a campaign like this! Who knew those Russians got the folks running the Clinton Campaign in Brooklyn to throw it all away!

David Brock: Last Exit to Brooklyn  Calls the press "animals" and blames the Brooklyn campaign for not defending its Queen.

Hot Air: Hillary's Sad Loser Party
There was no plausible scenario in which Clinton might win the electoral college but lose the popular vote. There was, of course, a plausible scenario in which the opposite happened, but Hillary and her dumb advisors were so blindly confident in their Rust Belt “firewall” that they thought they could afford to worry about the optics of winning the presidency without having won the most votes nationwide. Now imagine being one of the invitees to tomorrow’s party, reflecting on all of that, and realizing that whatever was left over from your donation will be put towards paying for a big soiree at which Hillary herself will thank you for having stupidly trusted her. Gonna be a lot of forced smiles at the Plaza.
The excerpt above, by the way, comes from a Vanity Fair piece on the fate of Huma Abedin, who’s spent half her life becoming the crony di tutti cronies in ClintonWorld only to find that she backed the wrong horse — twice, given her alter ego as Mrs. Anthony Weiner. “Maybe I’m just pissed off,” said one Clinton advisor to VF, “but I really don’t give a sh*t about what happens to Huma to be honest with you.” Without Weiner’s teen sexting scandal, there’s probably no new Comey letter in late October; without the new Comey letter in late October, we might be preparing for a Clinton presidency now and Huma might be preparing to be deputy White House chief of staff. What does she do now? Much like the Clinton Foundation, her main political asset is top access to Hillary Clinton, and today that asset is worth virtually nothing. The Foundation can go on rattling its cup in the name of charity but where does Abedin go, especially with other precincts of ClintonWorld angry at her? Ah well. There’s always lobbying.

"You cut the turkey without me!"

Barry Levinson's Avalon is a great movie. This scene is sadly and tragically all so true...

Everyone is stressed out over this Thanksgiving over politics, but sadly families sometimes break apart sometimes over litle things that build up over time. Levinson captures that in this scene.

The annoying American soccer fan

This is funny.  I especially agree with this bit:
The whole thing seemed to be less an expression of genuine fandom and more like an elaborate piece of performance art. Didn't we fight a war so you guys wouldn't have to take cues on how to behave from London? It should come as no surprise that the situation is particularly heinous in New York City. This is a town where artisanal toast is now a thing. So of course there's a peculiar species of fan here whose passion for soccer seems to be less about 22 men chasing a ball up and down a field and more about its intellectual and cosmopolitan qualities. Never mind that no other sport is so linked to the working class. For these fans, rooting for an English soccer team is a highbrow pursuit and a mark of sophistication, like going to a Wes Anderson movie or owning a New Yorker subscription.
But it is important to be fair and look for some redeeming qualities (these fans below seem okay):

Dream big kids!

And just look what is in store for you when you head off to college!  Well beyond the crushing debt burden.

Hooking Up 101
The Atlantic has a story on the hook up culture scene and how it is being driven by women.
Men tally “f*** points” on their frat-house bulletin boards. Women who sleep with “too many” men are called “houserats” or “laxtitutes” (a term of art denoting women who sleep with several guys on the lacrosse team) or are deemed “HFH,” meaning “hot for a hookup” but definitely not for anything more. The hookup culture, writes Bogle, is a “battle of the sexes” in which women want relationships and men want “no strings attached.”
So there we have it. America has unseated the Scandinavian countries for the title of Easiest Lay. We are, in the world’s estimation, a nation of prostitutes. And not even prostitutes with hearts of gold.
This is nothing new, Tom Wolfe has been talking about it for years and one of the enduring themes of Mad Men has been how that the arrival of the pill in the early sixties set all of this in motion. But The Atlantic article is interesting and also depressing:
The sexual culture may be more coarse these days, but young women are more than adequately equipped to handle it, because unlike the women in earlier ages, they have more-important things on their minds, such as good grades and internships and job interviews and a financial future of their own. The most patient and thorough research about the hookup culture shows that over the long run, women benefit greatly from living in a world where they can have sexual adventure without commitment or all that much shame, and where they can enter into temporary relationships that don’t get in the way of future success.
Will there be a backlash to all of this?  Undoubtedly. Our biology is bigger than this myopic view of success.   Smitty of The Other McCain noted something profound last week.  Bob Belvedere commented on it too.

Instapundit also notes that nature has a way of responding to a vacuum.  Morality does not seem so old fashioned when it butts up to reality. And they have to pay for the privilege of this brave new world.  I guess this is "winning."

This perversion of the American dream starts when they are young.

Only in America...

Commentator Joe Dutra at the Washington Examiner said something profound:
1) Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000 a plate campaign fund raising event.
2) Only in America could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when we have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black. 12% of the population is black.
3) Only in America could we have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.
4) Only in America can we have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.
5) Only in America would we make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just become American citizens.
6) Only in America could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be thought of as "extremists."
7) Only in America could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.
8) Only in America could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).
9) Only in America could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a trillion dollars more than it has per year for total spending of $7 million PER MINUTE,and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.
10) Only in America could the rich people who pay 86% of all income taxes be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.
