Prosecutorial Discretion: One of these three is not like the other...
| Menendez |
| Corzine |
| D'Souza |
Are politics behind the Obama Administration selective enforcement of laws?
Funny how certain people never get prosecuted. Why is that?
Bob Menendez is accused of getting support and access to under aged Dominican prostitutes and then pushing legislation for that same donor.
Dinesh D'Souza is accused of funneling $20,000 to a college friend to help her underfunded campaign (which she lost badly). Of the three, D'Souza's alleged crimes are by far the least serious (and truly victim-less), yet the Obama Administration is going after him for felonies and jail time.
Jon Corzine lost hundreds of millions for investors and then likely perjured himself in testifying about the causes of that loss. Corzine was also an Obama campaign bundler in the 2012 election.

Richard Fernandez notes a disturbing trend...
![]() |
| Jon Corzine, loses billions of dollars of investor funds |
![]() |
| Bob Menendez with a young "supporter" |
![]() |
| Chuck Hagel Doesn't like Republicans, Jews or Gays |
As Richard Fernandez notes: There are no consequences for political failure or even consequences for crimes and corruption. Democrats (or Republicans who support Democrats) are, with a few exceptions, not held accountable.
Robert Menendez is a shameful example. But also Jon Corzine. And as the Belmont Club notes, Hillary Clinton's performance in connection with Benghazi and Chuck Hagel's past comments and his pathetic performance in front of the Senate. But we see similar things all the time such as George Bush getting the blame for the down turn and economic recession, but no accountability at all for Democrats like Barney Frank involved and mostly responsible in the matter. Similarly, Bush getting blamed for Hurricane Katrinia when the failures really were due to Democrats Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco (and Obama getting nothing but praise for a similar performance in dealing with Hurricane Sandy). It goes on and on.
How do they have the ability to do this? Part of it is shameless partisanship. Democrat politicians will protect their own (like Harry Reid saying Menendez did nothing wrong...). And it especially helps to have a media that bends over backwards to protect Democrats and fellow liberals.
I can understand Democrats defending Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton over Benghazi (even if what they did was terribly wrong and a cover up of their incompetence). But the media should at least evenly call them on it (as they would for any Republican in such a position). But the kid glove treatment for Corzine, Menendez, and Hagel by Democrats and the liberal media is just especially shameful and disgraceful. It is unhealthy for Democrats and the country to protect and promote this (by not acting to curtail it themselves).
Update:
TOM notes: Time to wake up about the Fox Trap. It is not enough.

Democrat Jon Corzine is a criminal and should absolutely be prosecuted...
Even if Eric Holder and Barack Obama will not do it (Corzine is still a top campaign bundler for Barack Obama), I hope this report from Gateway Pundit happens:
This should be a major issue for this campaign. What a conflict of interest. Holder should be going to jail too. Allen West advises us to talk about Democrat Party extremism. He is spot on correct!

Conflict of Interest: Attorney General Eric Holder and Jon Corzine!

| Attorney General Eric Holder Mexican gun runner, protects Black Panthers from voter intimidation charges, and partisan hack |
What do these two kids have in common (other than being Democrats), well Eric Holder's law firm represented Jon Corzine's company MF Global.
No wonder there has been no real investigation or action on Jon Corzine losing over a billion dollars of investors' money. Despite the fact Jon Corzine was shown to have directed his employees to transfer money out of client accounts and Corzine lied about it to Congress.
These two are almost like a Separated at Birth.

Frontline takes on Jon Corzine: How Corzine steered regulators, twisted the rules, and made a fatal six billion dollar bet...
![]() |
| Now Corzine is just bundling cash for Barack Obama's re-election effort |
Zero Hedge explains:
While the sur-realities of just what Corzine and the rest of the MF Global 'traders' did has been extensively discussed here and elsewhere, PBS' Frontline provides the most succinct (and relatively in-depth) documentary on just what occurred from how the corrupt CEO lobbied regulators who had the power to stop his risky bets to the endgame realization of the missing customer money. A narrative, not just of "a bet that went bad," but "a Wall Street morality tale." Must watch!
The story of Jon Corzine, the former head of Goldman Sachs and political power broker, who took over MF Global in the spring of 2010 with oversize ambition and a passion for risk. But after a massive bet on European debt turned sour, the firm lay in ruins, with more than a billion dollars of customer funds missing. Why isn't Eric Holder prosecuting Jon Corzine for this? Good question.

More Democratic Party hypocrisy: Bain Capital raping companies? How soon we forget when Democrats get involved in Wall Street matters. Mr. Holder, what is happening with Jon Corzine?

In Romney's speech bashing President Obama last night, he said, "It's still about the economy, and we're not stupid."
Yeah, it still is about the economy, stupid. It's about how hucksters like Mitt crashed it, the middle class paid the price, and the top 1% got more tax cuts.
Let's call out these Republicans on their downright hypocrisy...

Instapundit UPDATE: A reader emails: “About that missing MF Global money, has anyone thought to check Corzine’s ‘bundle’?” Roger Kimball has more: Why is Jon Corzine still at liberty? Well this explains why Democrat Corzine was not prosecuted by the Obama Administration! |
Jon Corzine lost 1.2 1.6 billion in investor funds and cannot account for it.

| A new addition to the hall of fame of New Jersey gangsters Democrat Jon Corzine |
Team Obama looks out for its own. Protein Wisdom has more:
A government big enough to imprison you for whistling at a whale — or rather, for supposedly lying to DOJ prosecutors about an alleged whale whistle infraction — is a government that has grown at once too big and too insular. A “living” rule of law is not a rule of law at all: instead, it is tyranny dressed up in the trappings of impartial justice rigged to aid the connected and punish the “masses” under the capricious heel of an out of control Leviathan.
And the sad part is, there’s such “comity” on the GOP side of the governing aisle — a kind of deference to others within the ruling class, regardless of political party — that Republicans not only won’t make use of Corzine’s thievery, they likely won’t even mention it for fear of having Obama tether it to Wall Street Romney.Jeff Goldstein is absolutely right about out of control government and complicity by the Republicans in not taking a stand against it. Obama says he will use force to redistribute wealth. Romney should raise this issue and take it head on. Well Mitt won't, but who knows maybe Ann will. And Mark Levin is right: I would be pleased if Mitt Romney could just say this...

Federal investigations that never happened: Say it ain't so Wyclef, say it ain't so...
Wyclef Jean stole, lost or squandered money from his Haitian earthquake charity? Although he is sorta Haitian, so does that make it okay? Scientologist Wyclef Jean is a friend of Barack Obama and the Democratic Party. Hmmm, I wonder if he would have been investigated if he were a conservative?
But are there other Democrats getting special treatment?
Former New Jersey Democrat Senator Jon Corzine. Wyclef is a piker compared to the money Jon Corzine "lost." There were congressional hearings on this, Jon Corzine was in charge, but why aren't the feds going after him personally? Have they even frozen his assets? Obviously different rules apply to Democrats.
Update:
Bonuses for Corzine's crew!
The latest twist is that he had ample warnings and charged ahead anyway. MF Global’s risk officer, Michael Roseman, told Corzine repeatedly that the firm was heading for an iceberg. Instead of listening, MF Global got rid of him. Full speed ahead.
