Professor Harris is absolutely right. There are a lot of serious people in Jamaica, Professor Harris being one of them. Kamala Harris disparaged her own family by being flippant.

Ann Althouse and the ghosts that haunt Barack Obama's writing...

Ann Althouse did a post today on the use of the term ghosts in Dreams of My Father.  It is interesting.

She also suggests that perhaps the influence of Maxine Hong Kingston might be in play.  In Southern China, Caucasians are referred to as gwai los 鬼佬 , or ghost people in a derogatory way.  And the context ghosts in Dreams of My Father is different.

Atlhough the Obama campaign is now calling Romney a vampire (not exactly a ghost, but of the undead).
