MR. TRUMP GOES TO MEXICO?

This is potentiallyYUGE for Donald Trump.

Is this a potential game changer? Of course it is, it puts Trump in a position where people are seeing him not only act presidential but actually do something presidential.  When you have lefty sites like PoliticusUSA calling it erratic and crazed, you know they fear such a trip.

Instapundit: Roger Simon: Trump does brilliantly, Ex Clinton spokesperson praises Trump visit, It was a Yuge day for Trump, Hillary is morphing into JebTrump's gamble is paying offIs Trump on a mission from God? (don't you blaspheme), It's On: Hillary was invited too but she decided just to criticize Trump and he decided to go.

Legal Insurrection: Morning Joe panel not fans of Trump's Mexico trip (could be they recognize it helps Trump)

Hot Air: Vicente Fox not happy (too bad you feel that way but you are not president anymore)

Why do we give F-16s to Egypt but refuse to sell F-16s to Taiwan?

The Soap Opera of foreign aid:  This all started with Camp David...
The Blogmocracy is correct:  Our foreign policy is schizophrenic...  We are giving* F-16s to the Muslim Brotherhood (who are in fact running Egypt right now) but there are efforts to block selling F-16s to Taiwan.  I understand the political pressure to keep the F-16 assembly line going, but do we have to give them away (especially to leaders who are openly hostile both to us and Israel)?

* why many of these transfers of F-16s are called sales to Egypt, they are actually gifts.  Our foreign aid to Egypt is mostly in the form of such "sales" and the debts later forgiven.

Update:
An anonymous e-mailer said "They're payoffs to keep peace with Israel. Why do you pretend not to know the answer?"  That is of course true (and I am not pretending that is not the case).  I do not have a problem buying peace (sometimes that is the cheapest and best way to deal with something like this).  But when the Egyptian government changes from one under Sadat, to one under Mubarak, to one under Morsi/Muslim Brotherhood, we should adjust the payment to buy that peace.  Giving Egypt more F-16s may not be the smartest move.  At least we should condition such aid to agreed concessions by Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood.

But in the end, an F-16 is only as good as its pilot.  And I know Israel has better pilots than Egypt.  So if the peace fails and war does ever break out between Israel and Egypt again, I would not be surprised if Israel summarily destroys these various air bases as they did back in 50s, 60s and 70s.

And I-ran (I couldn't get away)

I am getting Déjà Moo over all this Iranian saber rattling.  Iran should be careful about what it wishes for...

We should not take such a conflict lightly.  Don't misunderstand, I am not proposing we go to war with Iran.  But if Iran did do something so dumb as the close the Persian Arabian Gulf's Strait of Hormuz--that could not go unanswered.  Wouldn't that give the United States a perfect opportunity to blow up some research facilities in Iran, sink the Iranian Navy, and blow up Iran's limited gasoline refineries?

Update:  And let's not forget this classic:  Iran So Far Away...

Update II:  Really?

Update III:   Faster, Please!

New Dear Leader

WTF! He is like a Korean Jonah Hill.

But I am guessing not as funny.

Update:  Here is Rush's montage about Korean Jonah Hill's dad.

Update II:  China to restructure North Korea  Well that did not take long did it!
