Kamala Harris Is A Terrible Leader
Apparently, working in Kamala's office is toxic.
Kamala is not a leader:
The real issue is that Kamala is leadership kryptonite. Her original presidential campaign dissolved into infighting between her staff and her sister. And she dropped out before she could even contest a primary.
As vice president, she not only made zero impact on anything, but her office staff abandoned ship. The only thing she made into a signature issue was opposing Israel over the war with Hamas.
The problem with Kamala Harris is she is even worse than Joe Biden. Given Kamala's record, it is almost certain she would be a terrible commander in chief. She is a dangerous authoritarian.

Barred Owls Being Shot By Feds To Save Spotted Owls 🦉🤯
They are very similar looking. The barred owls came from Canada!
I did not realize that wild life managers in the Pacific Northwest are out in the woods, shooting barred owls to save spotted owls. Then again: "Before he trained to shoot his first barred owl, he had never fired a gun." It is good to learn a skill--why not go shoot nutria or some other noxious invasive species? Apparently we can't have invasive Canadian owls coming south along the border.
That the barred owls are hybridizing with the spotted owls raises another issue: they can't be that different as species. Which just goes to show: Love will find a way.

Turkey vs. Black Vultures: How to tell the difference
This story about vultures attacking livestock in Kentucky made me think about vulture identification. It is fairly easy close up: turkey vultures have red heads and black vultures have black ones. But from a distance it is harder and juvenile turkey vultures can have black heads.

The Gull That Eats Pigeons
I am not sure why this is fascinating, but it is fascinating.
Maybe it is because this gull is just evolving from scavenger to hunter in the middle of a public park. But in Antarctica and the maritime Arctic, the primary bird predator is the skua (and chances are they started out like this).
It is also shouldn't be that surprising, raccoons are very similar (they like to scavenge, but will gladly kill chickens and smaller animals when given the chance). Many omnivorous birds prey on smaller birds and mammals far more than we realize.
