ALAN DERSHOWITZ: Right, it is. She submitted an affidavit that was, if not perjurious, completely misleading. She violated all kinds of rules of the profession, and her conduct bordered on criminal conduct. She, by the way, has a horrible reputation in Florida. She's known for overcharging, she's known for being highly political. And in this case, of course she overcharged. Halfway through the trial she realized she wasn't going to get a second degree murder verdict, so she asked for a compromised verdict, for manslaughter. And then, she went even further and said that she was going to charge him with child abuse and felony murder. That was such a stretch that it goes beyond anything professionally responsible. She was among the most irresponsible prosecutors I've seen in 50 years of litigating cases, and believe me, I've seen good prosecutors, bad prosecutors, but rarely have I seen one as bad as this prosecutor, [Angela] Cory. In a breaking development, the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Angela Corey has fired the IT specialist who blew the whistle on the prosecution’s concealment of evidence:

State Attorney Angela Corey fired her office’s information technology director Friday after he testified last month about being concerned prosecutors did not turn over information to George Zimmerman’s defense team in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
On the same day attorneys finished their closing arguments in that nationally watched trial, a state attorney investigator went to Ben Kruidbos’ home about 7:30 a.m. to hand-deliver a letter stating Kruidbos “can never again be trusted to step foot in this office.”

(WAJ adds) This has been a dirty prosecution in so many ways, so no one should be surprised that as soon as the jury went into deliberations the retaliation began.

Prosecutors Nifong and Mignini (allegedly) have a lot in common.  Miginini and Prosecutor Angela Corey (George Zimmerman) (allegedly) have a lot in common too.

It is (alleged) that Mignini pursued the Knox prosecution in an attempt to redeem his damaged reputation.  Mignini, the (alleged) Clown of Perugia.

And the dirty Sea Hag Prosecutor Angela Corey attempted to bury this evidence to prejudice Zimmerman's defense.  Angela Corey seems more far intent on winning at all costs than actually pursuing justice.

The legal standard is reasonable doubt.  A broken nose consistent with Mr. Zimmerman's version of events supports self defense.  The burden is on the prosecution to prove Zimmerman guilty, not on Zimmerman to prove himself innocent.

Meanwhile Angela Corey and the prosecution team have to out maneuver  Florida law to convict George Zimmerman.

I changed my mind about Prosecutor Angela Corey (who is prosecuting George Zimmerman)...

When Angela Corey flipped out about Alan Dershowitz, I thought she was dumb and vicious.  Now that she is prosecuting George Zimmerman's wife for perjury, I realize Corey is ruthless and vicious. She is smart in a cunning evil way.  Corey intends on destroying Zimmerman for her own political benefit.  Prosecutors are not supposed to zealously pursuit winning, they are charged to do justice.  This is not about justice.  She does not like that the merits of her case are weak, so she is changing the dynamics to get the result she wants.  This is about prosecuting Zimmerman in the press and polluting the jury pool (and too bad for Zimmerman's wife).  Angela Corey is a disgrace.  Corey is going Nifong on this case.

Professor Jacobson at Legal Insurrection notes that Corey has created an ethical dilemma for herself now:

Corey now has made the prosecution a personal issue. Will she conduct the prosecution in such a way as to achieve justice, or to set herself up for a personal lawsuit against Dershowitz and Harvard?
Corey certainly has a right to protect and defend her reputation in civil actions, but she cannot interject those concerns into a prosecution.  By threatening suit against a critic in the middle of the case, Corey has put her own financial interests at stake in the outcome and conduct of the prosecution.
Florida has adopted American Bar Association Standards of Criminal Justice Relating to Prosecution Function.  ABA Standard 3-1.3 Conflicts of Interest provides in pertinent part:
(f) A prosecutor should not permit his or her professional judgment or obligations to be affected by his or her own political, financial, business, property, or personal interests.
Corey should step down.  Now.

Update:
At least this is pretty.  The Zimmerman prosecution just stinks.  And there is a lynch mob mentality driving it.
