Michael Flynn Resigns: I am more troubled by government leakers trying to take President Trump down...

We all should be troubled by those in government who think it is ok to leak to the media. Does this really make us safer? 

Michael Flynn obviously could have handled this better, but we should recognize this for what it really is, a partisan CIA hit job against Flynn and Trump. They want to take Trump down, one staffer or cabinet position at a time.

Flynn's crime was not violating the Logan Act (which is nonsense), but blindsiding Mike Pence (and Donald Trump) with this. But to his credit, Flynn is dropping out to avoid the administration further embarrassment.  

What Trump needs to nip in the bud is the spy revolt at the CIA. And when it comes to leaks, it is not just the CIA that Trump has to worry about.

*Gulp*: I hope this is just a bait and switch to justify Romney, or Petraeus, or anyone else...

I recognize that there is all sorts of things going on behind the scenes, so I assume this is part of that process.  Still, I feel compelled to speak out about even the possibility of this. If anyone is seriously considering Jon Huntsman for any senior position in the Trump White House...stop it immediately and reconsider anyone else.

Who green-lighted taking Petraeus out?

Who green-lighted destroying Petraeus' future political career by pushing the FBI to "keep digging."  Barack Obama has never explained what happened in Benghazi.  Obama's explanations do not match those of Leon Panetta, Hillary Clinton, etc.  This post by Richard Fernandez, in a general sense, fits right into all of this.

Assuming all of this is true (regarding the insider take down of Petraeus), this is not exactly reassuring, especially with Brennan breezily taking over Petraeus' spot.  If Petraeus was not liked for making the CIA more engaged in drone strikes, why would Brennan (who is reported directing "unilateral operations" in North Africa) be considered that much different?  

Murphy and co-author Brandon Webb also revealed that the September 11 Benghazi terrorist attack that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, was retaliation by Islamist militants who had been targeted by covert U.S. military operations.
The book claims that neither Stevens nor even Petraeus knew about the raids by American special operations troops, which had 'kicked a hornet's nest' among the heavily-armed fighters after the overthrow of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
John Brennan, President Barack Obama's Deputy National Security Adviser, had been authorizing 'unilateral operations in North Africa outside of the traditional command structure,' according to the e-book. Brennan is Obama's pick to replace Petraeus as head of the CIA.

It also contends Ambassador Stevens and Sean Smith were killed first, in an initial attack, and that Ty Woods and Glen Doherty were killed later in a second attack when their position took a direct hit of mortar fire.

The central premise of 'Benghazi: The Definitive Report' is that the attacks were precipitated by secret raids JSOC had performed in Libya. An attack on the Islamist group Ansar al-Sharia days before September 11 may have been the final straw.
Heavily-armed militants with Ansar al-Sharia attacked the consulate on September 11 as retaliation, the book claims. Ambassador Chris Stevens and Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith died of smoke inhalation when insurgents set fire to the consulate.
After the raid, the militants launched a second attack against a CIA annex across town. It was there that CIA security contractors Ty Woods and Glen Doherty - both former U.S. Navy SEALs - were killed when their position took a direct hit from an enemy mortar.
Webb and Murphy said they wrote the book to reveal 'the truth' behind the attack. They say news accounts of the incident have often been inaccurate because journalists have not had inside access to the people who were on the ground at the time.
The authors have been frustrated, they say, by politicians who have attempted to twist the facts of the case to suit their own ends. Conservatives sought to use the attack as an election issue and place the blame on Obama.
Democrats and the Obama administration have worked to deflect responsibility and downplay the warning signs that were present before the consulate was raided.
