A Review: Death of a Nation

I would recommend this movie. For anyone paying attention, a lot of what Dinesh D'Souza is saying is not anything you don't know already, but there are plenty of people who have no clue about these issues or this history. Dinesh does a good job explaining how Democrats, particularly progressives, are out to destroy freedom and this country. D'Souza also explores events like Charlottesville (and those who were behind it) in an interesting and revealing way (hint: they're progressives).

I don't want to give the film away, but Dinesh edits some video clips (many I have seen many times before, some which were new) of Trump's candidacy and that glorious election night. It never gets old.

I also appreciated Dinesh's interview with Richard Spencer, the poster boy of the "Alt-Right." Dinesh shows how Spencer is no conservative or defender of individual rights, but a statist racist progressive.

The Left and Cultural Elites will absolutely despise this film. More the reason to go see it and support it

Prosecutorial Discretion: One of these three is not like the other...

Menendez
Corzine
D'Souza

Are politics behind the Obama Administration selective enforcement of laws?
Funny how certain people never get prosecuted. Why is that?

Bob Menendez is accused of getting support and access to under aged Dominican prostitutes and then pushing legislation for that same donor.

Dinesh D'Souza is accused of funneling $20,000 to a college friend to help her underfunded campaign (which she lost badly).  Of the three, D'Souza's alleged crimes are by far the least serious (and truly victim-less), yet the Obama Administration is going after him for felonies and jail time.

Jon Corzine lost hundreds of millions for investors and then likely perjured himself in testifying about the causes of that loss.  Corzine was also an Obama campaign bundler in the 2012 election.

Eric Holder
So why are Barack Obama and Eric Holder favoring Menendez and Corzine, but going hammer and tongs against D'Souza?

President Obama and Eric Holder's Department of Justice go after Dinesh D'Souza?

The Obama Administration apparently did not forget about Dinesh D'Souza and his film.  Well there is more than one way to block the follow on film.
Nothing suspicious here:  Funny how the Obama and Holder's Department of Justice focuses on Critics of Obama...
D’SOUZA, 52, of San Diego, California, is charged with one count of causing $20,000 in illegal campaign contributions to be made to a candidate for the United States Senate in calendar year 2012, which carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison. He also is charged with one count of causing false statements to be made to the FEC in connection with the illegal campaign contributions, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
The Indictment is the result of a routine review* by the FBI of campaign filings with the FEC by various candidates after the 2012 election for United States Senator in New York. Mr. Bharara praised the investigative work of the FBI.
This case is being prosecuted by the Office’s Public Corruption Unit. Assistant United States Attorneys Carrie H. Cohen and Rebecca Ricigliano are in charge of the prosecution.
The charges contained in the Indictment are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty
*emphasis added

If D'Souza had done this for the Obama Administration, he would be serving as an U.S. Ambassador at a country of his choice.

The alleged contributions may have been to D'Souza's Dartmouth classmate Wendy Long:
The indictment did not name the Senate candidate in the case. But it appears to be Wendy Long (R), who lost overwhelmingly in 2012 to incumbent Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat. Long raised less than $1 million for her long-shot campaign.
D'Souza was right about the direction the county would take if Barack Obama was re-elected:
“In America, we have a long tradition of not doing what is commonly done in too many other countries — criminalizing dissent through the selective enforcement of the law,” he said.
Well it was good while it lasted.

As Professor Glenn Reynolds notes, it is easy to for those in power to abuse the system when practically anything is a crime.  Of course the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York is an Obama Appointee.  Below is one of the Assistant U.S. Attorneys who is assigned as the prosecutor of Dinesh D'Souza:

Assistant U.S. Attorney Carrie H. Cohen
Ms. Cohen was previously appointed by Attorney General Eliot Spitzer as Chief of the Public Integrity Unit in the Criminal Division of the Attorney General's Office.  Well that is a relief!  If Eliot Spitzer likes her what could go wrong?

Update:
$500,000 Bail?  Sweet cherry tomatoes, is that excessive or what?

2016: Obama's America (see the whole movie on line for free)

Kudos to Dinesh D'Souza for getting the message out to prospective voters:

Update:  [I took down the video until I get confirmation it is okay from D'Souza]

Barack Obama's Ant Politics

Ann Althouse has a post on Insect Politics/Fish Politics.  Ann got inspired by reading Stanley Fish's New York Times review of Dinesh D'Souza's 2016: Obama's America (which I reviewed here).  Not surprising Fish (who is an Obama supporter) disliked D'Souza's movie as being a campaign ad against Obama.  And it is worth reading Fish's review just to give you an idea what ticks off Obama supporters.  Fish's article is amusing because despite his pseudo-intellectual justifications for disliking D'Souza's movie, it really comes down to how Fish and his wife feel about Obama (which in taking advantage of voters' feelings is how Obama got elected in the first place).  But Ann's post made me think immediately of this:

And Ann can go see Adam Ant in October in Milwaukee.
