The Macho Response was never particularly a fan of yoga...  

I do not consider yoga crazy (necessarily), but I also don't partake. Hey, I have bitched about insurance health coverage issues myself (an ObamaCare "gold" plan is hardly all that golden given the premiums, co-pays, and out of pockets deductibles most of us have to pay). But Mrs. Cunningham's lack of introspection and discretion suggests she might be a wee bit too self indulgent.

The Knockout Game

Crack is knocking himself out over this...
Trooper York, via El Polo Raylan, put up this post at Lem's Place.  Crack Emcee reponds here, here and here. Sorry Crack, but that does not explain it at all. Slavery and Jim Crow does not explain or justify the knockout game (other than being a source of anger).

The knockout game is not new.  It has been around for decades.

We have raised a generation or two of parents who can't parent -- negligence and abuse do crop up, absenteeism crops up even more, and then there's the phenomenon of parents who want to be their kids' friends; none of this is race specific, and none of it contributes to children who act civil. And because the parents are incapable, that leaves society on the hook.
BUT, but....
One of the biggest things that I personally have seen is, that we have taken away all personal control of their households away from these parents. A lot of them are on some sort of aid due to poverty; that means visits from the social worker (because of course poor people are too inept and lacking somehow to be good parents). Visits from the social are viewed with more fear and trepidation than a visit from the cops -- because the social worker can, in the blink of an eye cause a parent to lose a kid or all manner of other life wrecking things. The parents (or parent, because we've also punished poor people for trying to keep intact families) can be punished for trying to take control of their kids (and at a very young age the kids learn this; I've seen plenty of them tell the adults off "you can't spank/do anything to me; I'll tell the social worker", and it has effect). So, by the time these kids are in their teens, if not earlier, the parents have by and large tossed up their hands -- I can't say as though I blame them, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
And then you get out of control, crazy animal acting kids, and no, it isn't race specific, but society will be meeting with them and not in a good way.
This group is the largest group that I got to see in my dealings with juveniles -- it isn't that they are bad parents, but they are parents with their hands tied behind their backs (and their feet shackled, and possibly tied down to a chair).
So there's my theory: we've developed some parents who can't parent, because they don't know how and/or they have not been given the freedom within their own homes/families to do so.
Fix that, I think a lot of these problems would lessen by quite a bit (but the reaction has been in the exact opposite of anyone doing that).

The racial component in this is definitely there (and in Brooklyn it seems to be directed at elderly Jews by black youth).  But anger over slavery justifies young men punching elderly women?  To say this is all due to the legacy of slavery or Jim Crow misses the point (and the real cause of the problem). Why aren't Democrats and black leaders in the communities where it is happening speaking out against this and condemning it?  Especially given this thuggish behavior causes most of the harm in the black community.

Update:
Really, you laugh at this?  The problem is who are the real victims of not speaking out against crime and criminal behavior?
From 1980 through 2008, 93 percent of black victims were killed by blacks.
Translation: For every Trayvon Martin killed by someone not black, nine other blacks were murdered by someone black.
In 2005, we — blacks — accounted for 13 percent of the U.S. population but 49 percent of all homicides. The numbers are staggering, the loss incomprehensible
It is nothing to laugh about.

h/t:  Thanks to Crack Emcee for reminding me of this.  The tragic disaster that was the People's Temple should be taught in schools as a warning.  Crack thinks Romney and the LDS Church are part of a cult.  I disagree.  But I would point out the politics of the Democrats and Obama are far closer to the People's Temple than anything on the GOP side.
