The Boys in the Boat

I liked the book more, but the movie is very good. It was filmed in the Coltswalds, not Washington state. The male actors are mostly from the UK and Australia. Given George Clooney lives in the UK, the actual locals have changed over the years, and they got a big tax incentive to film there, it makes sense.

My biggest criticism is the CGI of 1930s main boating locations of Lake Washington, Poughkeepsie (the conifers they put in on the banks looked more PNW than Hudson River Valley), and Berlin did not seem all that believable (but the film was a limited budget and it still works). It is still a very good movie and I recommend it.

She was very good as the romance interest of Joe Rants.

China Collapse and the Housing Market

I like Peter Zeihan videos, but take them with a grain of salt. The China demographic collapse is very real and combined with their massive housing over built, this is going to turn out badly. Communist regimes are not immune from economic reality--which is why they ultimately fail.

The problem is if or rather when China goes down, there will be massive economic disruption in the rest of Asia, North America, and the EU. China may also try to distract with a Taiwan incident.
