Lady Bird: A Review




I was impressed. Lady Bird is a really well written movie, Kudos to Greta Gerwig for writing and directing it. When it comes to mother daughter relationships, this film shined. The dialog between Laurie Metcalf and Saoirse Ronan was almost perfection (While Ronan was very good as the teen age daughter and deserved her nomination for best actress, Metcalf as the mom was robbed not winning the Oscar for best supporting actress).

A few cheap political and church jabs (I know it is difficult for you to admit Hollywood, you pulled a similar stunt in I, Tonya, but Ronald Reagan was the greatest president of the 20th Century), but the film for the most part showed a degree of sensitivity and dare I say objectivity. It is also a love letter to Sacramento. Overall, I really liked it. It is also an excellent rental film.
