Volkswagen sued National Lampoon over the parody ad above. As part of the settlement, National Lampoon had to call back the magazines with this and issue a retraction. Which was this: “Even if Ted Kennedy had driven a Volkswagen he wouldn’t be president today.” Anne Beatts did the parody. Good times.
