Carlisle Indian School and American Football

I denounced RadioLab last week for cowardice (a deserved charge), but this week's show on American Football was excellent. Especially interesting was the football play of the Carlisle School when American Football was in its infancy.

Some of this I knew already, but there is a lot I did not know. While I knew Carlisle had a formidable football team (and about Jim Thorpe), I had no idea how important Carlisle was for the development of football as we know it today.

Radio Lab: American Football

There is a lot of criticism for how Carlisle forced assimilation on Native American kids, but what about more recent manipulation of kids at Harvard? AoSHQ posted about how Ted Kaczynski was tested at Harvard through a series of stressful, humiliating experiments, and then went on to become the Unabomber. The book is not available (except for $60), but this radio podcast is.
