Cinco de Mayo

It is secondary holiday in Mexico (other than in Puebla). It is really just an excuse to eat Mexican food (even if a lot of it is at best just Mexican inspired) and drink Mexican beer and tequila. That works. Some interesting recipes here.

  1. I like to think of it as the Mexican version of St Patrick's Day (there are more Jose O'Tooles than you think).

Everybody has an excuse to get plastered, go around yelling, "Viva Zapata" (instead of Erin Go Bragh), and sing "Ay ay ay ay" instead of "Danny Boy".

Know of any Moslem holidays that are any fun?

  2. They have the Eid where they slaughter sheep. If only I could get them to reject eating beef and embrace the "other white meat"

    1. They should call it La Noche Triste, since all their girl friends are passing on.

PS St Paddy's Day isn't that big in Ireland BTW. It's just people feeling a little homesick.
