The Village



A British period drama set in a rural village at the start of World War I. Downton Abbey and All Creatures Great and Small this is not. Very bleak and depressing view of English society at the time (granted WWI was a bad time in modern British history). I am not a fan of the series (it has lots of negative English tropes, and I am not overtly pro English), but Charlie Murphy playing Martha Allingham is quite good.
