Cracker Barrel: Go Woke, Go Broke

 


Rebranding. They got rid of the Cracker and the Barrel.  

I do not have much invested in Cracker Barrel personally. I cannot remember the last time I ate there. I know it is better than Denny's but I prefer local mom and pop's myself when it comes to comfort food. 

I get the whole ageing out (dying if you will) brands. Remember that Bud Light used to be the biggest beer in America. All that market share and good will was lost (in a matter of a few weeks) by a terrible marketing campaign.  

Logo changes aside, there is a market for traditional comfort food. That market can grow. If you provide good food for a good value, people will come. The nostalgia is part of the charm. You can potentially expand your brand without alienating your base.  

If you are going to try to "rebrand" do not screw or anger your customer base in the process. Because you will find you don't get new customers and lose the base.
