Sydney Sweeney

 


This is mostly false outrage controversy. No one is really offended by this ad campaign. Saying someone has great genes jeans is not eugenics (a bit cheeky perhaps, but that is about it). I have heard that phrase "you gave great genes" said to beautiful people of all races and backgrounds. It is not offensive (unless you lean on the ugly side of the spectrum).  

And you can tell that no one was really offended because, unlike the infamous Bud Light campaign, this actually benefited American Eagle (at least in the short term). The stock shot up. And it had just  enough vibe to go viral. So the ad campaign worked.
