Just remember if it wasn't for the staggering losses of the Allied bombing campaign (which also inflicted staggering losses on the German Luftwaffe) and the P-51 Mustang escorts that came on line around 1943- which both lowered the loss to the bombing crews and destroyed the remants of the Luftwaffe fighters, there is no way D-Day could have happened. The German Luftwaffe was essentially destroyed by June 1944 and the Allieds had air superiority.
