The Long Voyage Home

A John Ford film and Eugene O'Neill screenplay about the merchant marine on the eve of war. Great cast.

O'Neill's screenplay has some authenticity. O'Neill in his youth lived the life of a seaman on a tramp steamer, after getting kicked out of Princeton for drunkenness (at a reception for Woodrow Wilson).
