I only watched one season (the one where they are in Chilko Lake, British Columbia) but it is an very interesting show. In tough locations, it is really hard to survive on your own. Everyone is borderline on a starvation calorie decline after a month or so on the edge (very few would actually survive the full winter). And these are not novices, the people selected generally have outdoor survival skills in shelter building, foraging, fishing, and hunting.
You should appreicate just how hard it was to survive for your not so distant ancestors. There is a reason 45 of the 102 Mayflower voyage died that first winter. It also makes you appreicate the old timer Dick Proenneke, who lived in remote Alaska in that cabin. He was a tough knowledgable dude, but he still got support from bush pilots giving hims supplies every now and again.
All people need to be situationally aware, espeically woman. Jezebel, of course, has an agenda, but I am not discounting the human threat issue. That is a real thing. I doubt it would happen during a filing season of Alone, but it definitely could happen in real life.
