Sorry Pete Buttigieg, but electric vehicles are not going to save us...

Electric vehicles are fine. If you want one, go and get one. For a regular commute with not too much long distance driving they can definitely make sense (but make sure you also calculate in the cost of a high amp home charging base). The good news is the batteries catching on fire is not that common anymore.

The dirty (open) secret of electric vehicles, however, is if everyone gets one, the electricity to fuel them has to come from somewhere.  Wind turbines and solar are not going to do it. You need more nuclear, natural gas generators, and (*gasp*) coal to meet the demand. We will also need to greatly upgrade the electrical infrastructure system, but that is a given in the long run regardless.

And while you are not paying state and federal road tax with a EV now--you will.  That is inevitable.

And before the left slanders Rep. Massie, he has multiple degrees from MIT in electrical engineering.  He built is own off the grid solar electric system using a Tesla battery.  Massie knows more about this than Mayor Pete.
