20 July 1801: Elisha Brown, Jr presses a 1,235 lbs cheese ball to present to Thomas Jefferson

 

20 July 1801, a 1,235-pound ball of cheese was pressed at the farm of Elisha Brown Jr.  On 1 January 1802, the Mammoth Cheese it was presented to President Thomas Jefferson at the White House as a token of gratitude.

While Thomas Jefferson is trashed at his own home, let's remember he was respected and loved by his countrymen.
