Well Minnesota nice is apparently becoming a thing of the past. A food service worker is being accused of a "mircoagression" for saying hello in Japanese to a student (who turned out to be from Wisconsin).
Ok, I get it. Questions to people with Asian features being from somewhere else gets annoying. I also get that sometimes these questions are not always made in good faith. That said, lighten up when someone makes an assumption without malice or at least give someone the benefit of doubt even if you are not sure (crazy to think there might be a lot of foreign students at a college). Over reacting to every perceived "microagression" must be tiring too.
The Minnesota food service worker was just trying to be nice. It was the Wisconsin student who reacted poorly. You shame the rest of us Wisconsites with this over reaction nonsense. Turn it around and try to make it a positive thing.
