D-Day: Mulberry Harbours

The Germans knew that the Allies would need harbors (harbours) for any invasion and geared their Atlantic wall defenses accordingly. The Allies, however, came up with a plan to create their own artificial harbors (which made Normandy an option for invasion, since it lacks suitable natural harbors). One of those ingenious WWII inventions that can be over looked but made a huge difference.
