Chernobyl: Bridge of Death

According to HBO, people watching the reactor fire from this bridge all reportedly died.

Did they? HBO says so, but has that been confirmed?  🤔

I liked Chernobyl very much. I was initially shocked when it stated at the end of Episode 5 that everyone on that bridge died. I recognize radiation exposure is not just based on distance from the source. It is possible (even probable) that people inside the plant were less impacted by radiation than people some distance away (due to radioactive fallout from the open core blowing in their direction of those outside). Radiation hot spots are not uniform. There are a lot of factors that play into radiation poisoning.

Still, a definitive statement such as the one the HBO show made about the bridge and those on it should be confirmable. It does not appear this assertion by the show has been been confirmed. There was a lot of thing right about this production, but this particular claim may not be true.
