Liberation of Dachau: April 29, 1945

Dachau was a political concentration camp (where opponents of the Reich were sent), not a specially designed mass extermination camp like Auschwitz. Still many thousands were murdered there by the Nazis through summary executions, forced labor, and medical experimentation.

It was the first concentration camp opened by the Nazis in 1933 It was also a camp used for the training of other concentration camp guards.. The camp was liberated on April 29, 1945.
