I was never a big fan of a wall along the southern border. Resisting illegal immigration is far more than that (a wall alone does not do it). I would like to see a system of tracking of visa overstay implemented (since visa overstay is arguably as much as a problem as people crossing the Mexican border). We also need to punish employers who hire illegals (with fines sufficiently high enough to make hiring illegals not worth it).
Still, a physical barrier was a central point of Candidate Trump's promises that got him elected and he needs to at least start delivering on it. Pick the most vulnerable crossed points and start building a wall (don't wait for Pelosi and Schumer and the bitter backstabbing GOPe certainly won't help).

Here we go with Mitt Romney, but so fast! Question will be, is he a Flake? I hope not. Would much prefer that Mitt focus on Border Security and so many other things where he can be helpful. I won big, and he didn’t. He should be happy for all Republicans. Be a TEAM player & WIN!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 2, 2019

ReplyDeleteAlready been done. Crossings at SD, Tucson, Yuma, and El Paso down > 90%.
That is true. But it has not stopped over all numbers getting in. More, please! Again, this is a multi front thing, the wall is just a part of it (an important part).
DeleteA barrier (wall) will hinder or prevent crossings (invasions) at that point; the longer the wall the more difficult to enter.
ReplyDeleteTrue, although there will be topographical challenge (in addition to budgetary and legal ones). I am all for building barriers if they work. I am also for addressing visa overstays (arguably as big as a problem as the southern border) and going after employers who hire illegals (which is the bait that draws them in).
