  1. You're right about the posters.

    Most of the ones with women except 5 and the ones after 10 except 15 are recent.

    And the news clipping up top is a mere intimation of what the 43rd Division went through on New Georgia. Like a couple of other National Guard divisions, the politicians who were peacetime officers had not been vetted out (many were cronies of the likes of Franklin Roosevelt and James Curley) and the performance of the division suffered until they were relieved.

    PS The heroics of Doris Miller were also shown in Tora, Tora, Tora.
