Maggie Gyllenhaal in 'The Deuce'

Deadline: 'The Deuce' Review

The Deuce is getting some good buzz. There is a nostalgia for visiting the early seventies that has not exactly worked in various tv shows and movies, but maybe this one will. Times Square was quite the scene in the seventies.

Well written and acted character dramas can work. While not a seventies era drama, I did like The Night Of a lot because it was a well done character study. Boogie Nights (which I can't believe was done twenty years ago) also worked.

This is hopefully an off camera image.  Do you recognize what is wrong with this?

Instapundit: Hollywood suffers its worst summer in 25 yearsHere's looking to Fall, and Millennials don't care about classic films (ignorant)--of course to Millennials, The French Connection, Mean Streets and Taxi Driver are ancient history...but Death Wish is coming back!

  1. So I liked Maggie in Dark Knight. It was the first I heard or seen of her. I looked her up. She's not quite a 9-11 Truther, more like an America's chickens are coming home to roost type ultra-progressive. Maybe it's a good movie, I won't find out. And for that, I think Hollywood's poor box office draw will continue.

    1. I will watch it because I like James Franco (who is surprisingly pretty level headed). If I avoided every movie because there were leftists in it, I would not see much. But I concur on what ails Hollywood. I just did a post on an actress who "came out" in Hollywood and the reaction she got.
