Denial seems to be an issue with NFL management. The NFL claims it does not really know why ratings are down, but it's open to any theories. Roger Goodell still does not get it. For a guy who is paid over $40 million a year, you'd think he should be a tad bit quicker.
National Anthem protests hurt viewership. A lot of fans don't like it. And it is not because they are racist or unsympathetic to the issue being raised by some players, they consider protesting in that manner disrespectful. Yes, players have free speech to protest. Fans can show their displeasure by not watching as much football. Not one likes being chided.
AoSHQ addresses the NFL and Goodell too, but if Camus suggested that the central affirmation of one's existence was the capacity to refuse, the capacity to say "No.", can't we say no to the NFL?
