PUBLIC TEACHER UNION AMBER ALERT TENURE IN DANGER DIAL IT PAST ELEVEN

California Teachers Union Leaders Today
The California Teachers Association is none too happy:
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled Tuesday that tenure, seniority and other job protections for teachers have created unequal conditions in public schools and deprive poor children of the best teachers.

  1. Prediction: This will be resolved by a higher court ordering reassignment of teachers to spread the crap evenly.

That, in turn, will be followed by a huge wave of private-school construction in CA.

  2. Thinking a little bit about the judge's basis for his decision:

“Substantial evidence presented makes it clear to this court that the challenged statutes disproportionately affect poor and/or minority students,” Judge Rolf M. Treu wrote in the ruling. “The evidence is compelling. Indeed, it shocks the conscience.”…

got me wondering why this principle doesn't apply to differential income-tax rates. Or people who don't get tax credits when they send their kids to private schools.

Seems like an excellent rhetorical hook for vouchers.
