Former Bergdahl Platoon Members hit back against Obama White House Accusations

The Obama White House is willing to go hammer and tongs after Bergdahl's former Platoon Members when they say he should face court martial:

The Obama administration is more than willing to question the integrity of the men who served with Bergdahl, but not the integrity of Bergdahl himself. After all, White House National Security Advisor Susan Rice said Bergdahl served his country with "honor and distinction," and President Obama says he will issue no apologies. It really is unbelievable.

President Obama says no senior people in "my government" had any reservations about trading Bergdahl for five mass murderers.  Really, it is his government?

As for those who say the President made a tough but right call, I absolutely disagree.  No one is suggesting Bergdahl should have been left there intentionally.  The question is the policy decision of trading one soldier for five very dangerous Taliban leaders.  Those five killed thousands of Afghani civilian minorities (so what are we inflicting on the Afghan people by releasing them).  That is not even considering the very bad precedent of trading five terrorists for one soldier (regardless of the circumstances of how that soldier got captured).  This was the best deal they could negotiate?  And what about the soldiers we lost capturing those five terrorists in the first place.  And yes, the Taliban Five are terrorists.

Excellent point:

While combat is still raging — especially combat by terrorist methods that violate civilized norms — detainees should be held until the conclusion of hostilities unless there is some strategic advantage in releasing them. There can be no strategic advantage in replenishing the Taliban with five of its most capable commanders at a time when the Taliban, along with its al-Qaeda and Haqqani confederates, is still conducting offensive jihadist operations against both our troops in harm’s way and civilians. 

On that score, it would not matter if the deserter Bowe Bergdahl were, instead, a heroic Audie Murphy. Indeed, as my old boss Rudy Giuliani observed on Sean Hannity’s program this week, an honorable American prisoner of war would not want to be released if the price were freeing five terrorists who would then gravely endanger his fellow troops.
