    1. That big boy would be a challenge even to you Sixty "Paul Bunyan" Grit. Although in the old days they did it with hand saws and wedges. But it usually took a few guys on either side of those saws.

    2. I was kidding of course - even though I am a wood worker there is no way I would take down a majestic tree like that.

      I scavenge all the wood I use - since I live in a heavily wooded area there are more trees being taken down than I can possibly ever use.

      I took down the maple in my back yard last Thanksgiving because it was rotten and needed to be taken down before it fell down. So far it has provided many wonderful bowl blanks and a couple of beautiful finished bowls.

    3. I know you were kidding. Plus doug fir is good for timber, not wood working (although old growth doug firs used to be made into decent floor strips).
