U.S.S. Indianapolis

  1. One of the great mass SNAFUs of all time.

PS I miss Robert Shaw, one of my favorite actors from the time I was a kid and he played in a British import TV show called "The Buccaneers".

  2. An amazing and horrifying story of total human exhaustion both physical and emotional. It includes everything: great courage, suffering, and terror, as well as incredible coincidence of human failing, enormous historical stake, and shear luck both good and bad. The survival at sea is an unparallelled study in how men act under great pressure, their strengths and weakness laid bare by the horror of our helplessness in the face of the sea's relentless random judgement.
