Why?  

What possible justification is there for this?   If it cannot work on its own, why would we subsidize it as a matter of policy?  Other than if you have a profound dislike for eagles and bats.  Hmmm, could it be Karl has friends who happen to be connected to this industry?

We have to be watching out not just for Democrats and leftists.  There are plenty of Republicans who do not have our best interests at heart.

We don't need no stinking giant fans... 

Update:
If wind power was such great idea, the IPOs for these companies would dwarf Facebook's (and there would not be a massive sell off the next day).  Ask yourself who benefits from tax deals and subsidies.
