I think two things are pretty clear:
ReplyDeleteOne is that USAID was shoveling money from taxpayers like coal into a boiler. It funded things that never would have been allowed if they were public knowledge, from synchronized “news” bites to shape public perception to NGOs funneling millions of migrants into the country illegally, and to support politicians lavish undeclared income.
The second is that USAID is the tip of the corrupt and wasteful FedGov iceberg. Billions of wasted dollars remains to be discovered, much of it will likely have been spent in opposition to the country’s economic and political interests.
