Paranoid? Maybe not paranoid enough...

As Mark Steyn points out above, this goes beyond incompetence. How could this 20 something person get so close and in such a deadly position to take that shot against Donald Trump? 

There was plenty of warning leading up to it. The Secret Service only acted after shots were fired. Then the Director of the Secret Service makes excuses and takes no real responsibility over this debacle. Granted political assassination attempts are rare (thank goodness), but this post investigation is definitely not normal (other than the JFK assassination). DEI may be part of it, but it does not explain all of it. 

There is no evidence I have seen suggesting this was a conspiracy in recruiting this shooter (obviously the investigation is continuing). The failures leading up to the shooting, however, cannot be readily explained. If it was just incompetence, it was at a minimum, gross and shocking incompetence. I doubt this sort of performance would be acceptable in protecting Joe Biden. Director Kim Cheatle and the leadership involved with this at the Secret Service should be fired.
