To be fair, he is a good looking dog. 

Typically when wild animals (bears, big cats, etc.) get a taste for human, the only cure is to put them down. But it is hard to blame a starving dog for feeding on battlefield corpses. The Ukrainians liked he was feeding on Russians, so they got him a home near Odessa. Apparently, once rescued, he was pretty friendly.
