Mayor of Casterbridge



With Amazon Prime Video offering Black Friday streaming channels for  $0.99 for a limited period, I found this on BritBox. A 2001 British TV production, based on the Thomas Hardy novel, which was serialization in 1886. My quibble is it is loaded with twists and turns that make it over the top. It would have been better with a clear arc, but like Dickens, the serialization feeds drama. I still liked it. This particular production has great British actors like Ciarán Hinds, Juliet Aubrey, Jodhi May, James Purefoy, and Polly Walker.
