EBL: What Happened In Beruit? 🤯😬😢
It is a cheap fertilizer. You could get it by the sack at home improvement and garden stores, but now it is more controlled given its explosive characteristics and propensities. It is still widely available. It was the chemical used in the Oklahoma City bombing and relatively easy to convert to a weapon of destruction.
Could the Beruit explosion have been accidental? Yes, but that still implies someone was incredibly negligent in storing that amount (thousands of tons) of it in Beruit and allowing the conditions that led to its explosion. Compare what happened in Beruit to the Oklahoma City bombing which was 4,000 lbs of Ammonium Nitrate. It is also possible someone intentionally set this material off (especially given this happened in Beruit), but at this point we don't know.

Powerline: What Happened In Beruit?
The story does not add up.
ReplyDeleteIf the ammonium nitrate was seized many years ago and held (forgotten! ha ha) in that warehouse [at port, on the humid Mediterranean ocean] for years, it would have taken on too much moisture to ignite...
But hey, the story sells to the sheeple!
