This is the best picture of the year (in a year where there have been some very good films). One of the best war films I have ever seen. A simple, but powerful story--beautifully filmed and acted. Go see it on the big screen. The technical skill of the film and the cinematography are stunning.
Sam Mendes is a fabulous director. The ensemble cast (many who you will recognize) are all very good and play their characters just right, but the leads, Dean-Charles Chapman and George Mackay, give stellar performances. Thomas Newman did the score.
