The photo above was staged after the fact to allow for photography. Russia has the date in October due to the old Julian calendar used at the time (the actual date was November 7, 1917). Could the Bolshevik takeover have been averted? Probably--but it unfortunately it wasn't (and millions died as a result).  

We can't change the past. Maybe we should be trying to avert socialism being implemented here, now.
