Oh well I can't say I am surprised. Hard to get excited about a prequel when the original series ended so inconsistently and badly. HBO says it has more GOT series in the pipeline--but this cancelation bodes poorly for them going forward too. You have the same fundamental problem--we know where this ends up.
Given that the Giants and Jets are not doing so well and there are no sets and Comic Con events to occupy his time, George R.R. Martin can now work without distractions on finishing his books. Then again--I am pretty sure that won't happen either.
