When this story first broke, I was ready to blame gremlins.
Prosecutors claim there is ISIS material on his telephone and he may have terrorist ties. What a surprise. I am sure we are all shocked. Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani denies any terrorist motives. He claims he was upset by stalled union negotiations with the airline. Sabataging an aircraft seems like a great way to get some overtime. The ISIS stuff on his phone is not what you think it is.
Intentionally disabling an aircraft in this manor (especially by a mechanic) should have severe consequences--regardless of motive. A coworker claims Alani admitted he had a brother in ISIS and went to Iraq (but apparently did not tell anyone until now). But hey, let's have the TSA pat down some more senior citizens.
Instapundit: It's a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma
EBL: ✈️Just blame gremlins... and Good sabotage
Hot Air: So where is the vetting of this mechanic?
