UK Ambassador to the USA, Sir Kim Darroch Resigns...

His own Trump Derangement Syndrome Did Sir Kim In

Kim Darroch's memos and reports on Trump were not "candid" but showed a deep animosity to the Trump Administration. Yes you want your diplomatic staff and ambassadors to be objective, but Darroch was hostile in those memos.

Darroch was a career member of the British Foreign Service. That would be similar to being a career member of the U.S. State Department. If you know anything about that, the State Department leans hard left, follows its own agenda if it disagrees with the person in power (they don't respect decisions by voters), and is an insular world all to its own. It is very much a "I scratch your back..." world, where the Deep State (be it in the UK, USA, or EU) works to protect its own. Apparently Darroch is not a fan of Brexit (imagine that).

As far at the UK not being taken seriously by USA administrations, yeah Love Actually. That movie actually sucked (we also got the joke about some "Texan" President who hits on 'Natalie'). Subtle that dig was. Hey, I am not a fan of W either, but he didn't hit on the staff like that--that would be Bill Clinton. But hey, any chance to have a dig at the USA. UK movies (paired up with Hollywood backing) tend to do political jabs like that all the time--usually at the expense of conservatives. Elites and establishment types in the UK and USA have similar distain for their citizens who vote for things like Brexit or Donald Trump.

I get the UK does not like being pushed around by the USA. Sir Kim, however, got caught revealing his animosity to the current administration. Darroch's position became untenable and he had to resign.  It was a self inflicted wound. That bit of advice Hugh Grant's character gives to Billy Bob Thornton's character on the UK and USA relationship, that goes both ways. See ya.
