We see a lot of eagles here on Chesapeake Bay. They fish when they have to, but they'd much rather bully an Osprey into dropping one. Ospreys are deadly hunters, successful at least half the time they strike, but our Ospreys haven't appeared yet from their winter vacation, and the Eagles are getting desperate. I saw a young one pestering a seagull the other day, without any luck. Eagles will also eat roadkill, and it's not uncommon for them to be hit by cars.

ReplyDeleteI like seeing them in Alaska, they are thick like crows there and typically just like you describe.
