Sherine Abdel Wahab شيرين أحمد عبد الوهاب

Is the Nile safety to drink?  Here is a picture taken not far from Cairo that would persuade most people to drink bottled water (just in case you were considering drinking out of the river).

Schistosomiasis (Bilharzia) is also a very real problem in Egypt. It is definitely not safe to drink the water out of the Nile (untreated).

I would not drink the water untreated out of any river passing through a major metropolitan area. Yet Egyptian popstar Sherine Abdel Wahab in legal hot water for saying so?

Sherine was recently asked at a concert to sing the Egyptian Standard: Didn't You Drink From The Nile, and she commented (as a joke) she didn't watch to get Schistosomiasis. A social media firestorm ensued.
