Can Trump Do This?

We know for sure he can act presidential and go on the attack with Hillary, we have seen him do it. The issue is whether Trump can stay disciplined and consistent through the election in November? His biggest weakness is rising for the bait when other people try to set him up. Michael Walsh's advice is spot on.

Don't kid yourself, if the election were today Trump would probably lose. But Trump can definitely win this thing. But it is going to take work to do it. Trump has to win over enough voters to defeat Hillary. Bombast alone will not do it--his attacks need to be smart and targeted.
So he lost George Will? Sorry, not voting for Trump or opting out is one thing (I may not vote for Trump myself), but #NeverTrumpers actively trying to defeat him for the benefit of Hillary Clinton is another thing all to gether.

Lem's Levity: Hillary and Obama have shown unexcused incompetence (Trump should focus on this).

Don't kid yourself. The network and major daily polls are giving Cacklepants an 8 point boost. I'd say it's about even money.

As for attacks, he just keeps on coming. He's hitting her where she's most vulnerable and, if Breitbart is believable, Brexit issues are relevant here.

    1. I think he would lose, but primarily because he doesn't look to yet flip enough swing states. That said, I suspect if elections were held today, he'd be closer on the electoral than McCain or Romney.

All these DC Beltway and California #NeverTrump voters will likely succeed in getting Hillary the popular votes. But I'm not letting them fool me. Their votes were always meaningless. What matters are the votes in Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida. That last is still a concern for me, but Trump is making gains in the others.

    2. Close or far, lose is lose. If he wants to win, he has to be better. He has a hostile media and is low on cash. He can win, and Leland is right, the key states matter a lot.

  2. Forget if the election were today. There is going to be a barrage of negative ads on Trump that will drive down turnout and maybe change a few minds. One PAC spoke of Trump running into a "billion dollar buzzsaw".
Mondale carried his home state. Look for Trump not to be able to do even that.

  3. Well, I donated to Trump's campaign today, so that should keep him going through August.

I love such negative Trump rhetoric!

It gives him perpetual underdog status.

Underdog status is beneath Hillary and that's why she will lose.

    1. Underdog status is fine, but if he is Mitt Romney perpetually behind to eventually lose...that does not work. Trump can win this, but not just coming along to get along.
